Availability: Prescription only. The user is fitted at the clinic to ensure that the devise is the right size based on the size and shape of their body and whether or not they have ever been pregnant or had a child.
 
Cause of Failures:
  • Not using these devices with spermicide
  • Not inserting a device before the start of intercourse
  • Device gets dislodged during intercourse
  • Using the wrong size
  • Using a device for more than 2 years without having it refitted
